First, connect to the BT Wi-Fi network.

A BT Wi-Fi SSID (network name) will appear in your device's available wireless networks list when you're in range of a hotspot. You can find your nearest hotspot here: Get wireless Internet | Find wi-fi hotspots | BT Wi-Fi (btwifi.com)

On your mobile device:

1. Select the Settings icon on your device
2. Select Wi-Fi (or Wireless & Networks) from the Settings menu
3. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on
4. From the list of available networks choose BTWi-fi or _BTWi-fi
5. Once connected, you are on the BT Wi-Fi network

On your desktop - click the wireless icon at the bottom right of the screen and select BTWi-fi or _BTWi-fi from the drop-down menu.

Secondly, once connected to the BT Wi-Fi network, you're ready to login to your closest BT Wi-Fi hotspot and start using the internet. To login to a hotspot:

1. Once you join the BT Wi-Fi network (steps above), a browser window will appear. If it doesn't, open your browser and type 'www.btwifi.com' into your browser's address bar.
2. If there is free access click the "Get online" button to proceed.

3. If you're an existing BT Broadband or EE Broadband customer with an access account you can also login by clicking the "BT Customer Login" button and you'll be presented with 3 options:

   • BT Broadband account — Use this if you're an existing BT Broadband customer
   • BT Business Broadband account — Use this if you're an existing BT Business Broadband customer
   • EE Broadband account — Use this if you're an existing EE Broadband customer

4. You are now online and can start browsing.

   On desktop or tablet devices, a new web browser window may open confirming you're connected. Minimise, rather than close, the web browser window - now you're ready to browse the internet.

Most BT Broadband customers and EE Broadband customers are automatically registered for BT Wi-Fi, unless you've opted out. You can get online at a BT Wi-Fi hotspot using your BT ID or EE ID and password.

To end your session on the internet click on the "log out from BT Wi-Fi" button link to disconnect.

The first step to using any company network is to connect and login to your nearest BT Wi-Fi hotspot as outlined above.

Once online, connecting to your company's network will depend on the specific IT set-up of your organisation. In some cases, you will not need to do anything further, but if your organisation operates a virtual private network (VPN), you will need to minimise your browser and launch the VPN to access your company network.

When connected to a BT Wi-Fi hotspot, the speed you experience will depend on several factors. These include the device you're using, how many other people are connected, how far from an Access Point you are and also the network speed in the particular venue you are in. In all cases, the speed you experience should be suitable to complete most online functions.

No. Wi-fi is perfect for uploading or downloading large files at high speed. Use is based on time rather than data transfer amount. But please remember that if you're sending an email, your recipient's email account may limit the amount of data accepted. We suggest that you limit emails and attachments to 10MB. A Fair Use Policy may apply.
